Denmark is handball world champion.
With the 26:23 (13:13) in the final of Cairo against Sweden, the Danes around superstar Mikkel Hansen defended their 2019 World Cup title. The outstanding player was the Danish goalkeeper Niklas Landin.
In the first round, Denmark dominated the game for a long time.
But no team could really break away.
Before half-time, the game threatened to tip over towards the Swedes because Denmark didn't take advantage of their chances: At 11:10 for Sweden, keeper Andreas Palicka parried a seven-meter from Hansen (24th), Simon Hald Jensen threw free on the circle next to it ( 28.).
Nevertheless, Denmark saved the draw in the break.
Especially because keeper Niklas Landin parried strongly.
The close game initially continued in the second half.
Until Denmark's Jacob Holm from the Füchsen Berlin took it in hand.
Between the 42nd and 47th minute, the backcourt player scored four hits and his movements were unpredictable: Holm sometimes pulled to the circle, then he shot undercover from the backcourt.
The Swedes didn't seem to be able to cope with the variation in the Danes' otherwise so fixated Hansen game.
For the first time Denmark pulled away on three goals.
In the final phase, Sweden's Jim Gottfridsson was disturbed during a run to the circle and postponed the throw (54th), but there was no free throw.
A little later, the outstanding countrywoman parried a free throw from Albin Lagergren (55th) in the Danish goal.
Then Landin parried a seven-meter from Magnus Wanne (59th).
