In addition to other Premier League professionals, the English national soccer player Marcus Rashford has also reported racist insults against him on the Internet.
"Humanity and social media at their worst," wrote the 22-year-old Manchester United striker on Twitter on Saturday night.
“Yes, I am a black man and I am proud of it every day.
Nobody and no comment will change that. "
Rashford did not get past a 0-0 with United in the away game at Arsenal on Saturday and received numerous verbal slurs on Instagram.
Rashford's teammates Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial had previously reported racial slurs on social media after the team lost to Sheffield United.
Chelsea professional Reece James had also denounced discriminatory abuse against himself.
The police are now investigating after insults against West Brom professional Romaine Sawyers.
The association responded
The English association responded by renewing its commitment on Saturday to fight racism in English football.
"Football in its entirety is united in its disgust for any racist attack," said a statement.
"We will continue to work with the government and the social media companies to eliminate racism and all forms of discrimination in football."
Former national player Ian Wright, who appeared as an expert on the BBC program “Match of the Day”, also called for a tougher crackdown on politicians: “Black players are attacked, it happens again and again and seems to be normal because of these platforms Let it happen, ”Wright said.
"You must finally start taking serious action against it, they are miles away from that."
"Isn't there anything original"
Rashford wrote on Twitter that he would not share screenshots of the news.
"That would be irresponsible, and as you can imagine, there is nothing original in it," he said.
Children of all skin colors would follow him on social media, they shouldn't have to read it.
Rashford, who was appointed "Member of the Order of the British Empire" (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II because of his social commitment, has become increasingly socially committed, especially in times of the corona pandemic.
He caused a sensation in particular with a campaign with which he had put the British government under pressure.
Rashford had campaigned for the food supply of the poorest English school children during the corona crisis, started a petition and wrote a letter to all MPs.
Almost 1.7 million children in the pandemic should therefore also be fed in their schools during the holidays.
The government agreed to help families in need with a £ 170 million aid program through March.
