Referee Martin Petersen was removed from the German Football Association (DFB) as a video assistant a few hours before the kick-off of the Bundesliga match between Werder Bremen and SC Freiburg.
Petersen does not appear in the game on the DFB website with the headings.
As a replacement, Marco Fritz was ordered to the Cologne video cellar at short notice on Saturday.
First the »Bild« reported on the change.
Petersen had made a serious mistake on Friday evening as a video assistant in Holstein Kiel's second division game against the Würzburger Kickers (1-0).
The 35-year-old had not revised a wrong penalty decision by referee Thorben Siewer and thus favored Kiel's winning goal.
What happened?
Alexander Mühling had scored with a controversial penalty (60th minute) to win Kiel.
When Kickers keeper Hendrik Bonmann collided with Holsteins Jae-sung Lee while defending his fist, referee Siewer decided on a penalty, and the goalkeeper hit the ball first.
Petersen did not intervene, according to "Bild" he continued to defend his decision after the final whistle.
According to the newspaper, the DFB informed Petersen early on Saturday morning that he would not be used in Bremen.
However, the schedule had already been published.
The DFB admitted the mistake on Friday evening via Twitter.
The referee's perception that there was a foul play by the Würzburg goalkeeper was not correct.
Those responsible for the bottom of the table had expressed severe criticism after the game.
“If that's a penalty, it's no longer my time.
Then we can play table tennis, «said Kickers trainer Bernhard Trares.
