Is Joel Abu Hanna on his way to one of the top teams in the Premier League?
The Israeli national team brake has in recent days rejected another offer submitted to him by Zoria Lugansk for a new contract and he will become a free agent in the summer.
In fact, Abu Hanna is allowed to sign a preliminary contract right now and join a new team in the summer, free of charge.
Before the winter break, Abu Hanna was ranked first in the Ukrainian league in the amount of defensive struggles with 166 (116 successful) and he became an important and valued player in the Ukrainian team, which is ranked third in the table after Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Zoria Lugansk played this season in the home stage of the Europa League and she seems to be on the safe path to getting a ticket to the continental arena next season as well.
At the same time, the club - like most Ukrainian football - is suffering from a budget problem and Abu Hanna has already started squinting to places where he can earn a much higher salary.
Abu Hanna joined Zoria in the summer of 2019 after playing little in the third division in Germany, and got his career back on track in Ukraine.
The club hoped he would continue and made him an offer, but he flatly refused and made it clear that his decision to leave in the summer is final.
The 23-year-old brake was not included in the squad for the game against Mariupol on Saturday and it will be interesting to see if he continues to spend mostly in the stands until the end of the season.
The player was already under surveillance by Premier League teams before being called up to the Israeli national team, but at that time they were not convinced that an offer should be made to him.
Now, thanks to his ability and becoming a national team player, he has become a sought-after player.
At the same time, the top teams in Israel are expected to compete and the young stopper is already under surveillance by teams from Poland, Russia and Turkey.

Abu Hanna is the son of an Arab-Israeli Christian father who married a German woman.
He made 16 appearances for Germany's youth team (U17) and reached the European Championship final in 2015.
Later he also participated in two games of the German youth team (U19).
He grew up in Bayer Leverkusen's youth department and also sat on the bench in the Bundesliga game against Stuttgart, but eventually left without wearing the senior team uniform.
After playing for Kaiserslautern, Magdeburg and Fortuna Cologne and suffering from a few injuries, he found his place in the Ukrainian league.
Abu Hanna made 12 appearances in the Ukrainian league this season and 5 appearances in the Europa League home stage, where Zoria met Leicester City, AEK Athens and Braga.
Last August, Abu Hanna was surprisingly invited to the squad of the Israeli national team convened by Willi Rotensteiner.
He was included in the squad for several games and made his debut in a 2-1 loss to the Czech Republic in the League of Nations.
Unfortunately, he scored an own goal in the game in Haifa, after returning a ball to Ofir Marciano and the goalkeeper missed it.
