Attempt to compromise failed.

The Football Association estimates this morning that in about two weeks a technical director will be appointed for Israel's youth teams.

At the same time, the names of the coaches for the various teams will be announced, and it seems that Alon Hazan will be appointed coach of the Olympic team.

As for the position of technical director, it seems that he will eventually be appointed to a position as a professional from abroad after the two main figures they wanted in the association did not come, each with its own reasons.

As for Yossi Benyon who was the first to be wanted for the position, the Football Association did not want anyone who will serve as the technical director of the young teams to be involved in the national team.

Benyon wanted extensive powers that would include beyond the youth teams also the senior team, but recently he was willing to compromise and take on the role without touching Willie Rotensteiner's team.

At the same time, Benyon asked that after completing the Austrian's career, to the extent that he would still be the technical director, he would be given powers in the adult as well and would be able to influence there as well.

Although the association wanted Benyon very much, they also refused this compromise proposal because Chairman Oren Hasson insists that there will be a complete separation between the work of the technical director of the young teams and the national team.

At the same time as Benyon and as already reported here, the Football Association wanted Ran Ben Shimon as the technical director of all the young teams, but Jackie Ben Zaken refused to discuss the possibility of releasing him and last week extended his contract for another two years.

Other Israeli candidates who were examined for the position did not pass the requirements of the search committee headed by Oren Hasson, and it seems this morning that we are also close to a foreign man in the position of technical director.

By the way, the Football Association insists that Willy Rotensteiner will not be involved in the appointment of the technical director of the national teams and that he will not be the one to determine the identity of the man.
