After the Friday game between 1. FC Heidenheim and Holstein Kiel, another game of the 25th matchday in the 2nd Bundesliga was canceled at short notice with the duel planned for Sunday between Hannover 96 and the Würzburger Kickers.
A player from Hannover had previously tested positive for the corona virus.
The responsible health department has ordered a 14-day home quarantine for the entire team, the coaching team and a physiotherapist.
The German Football League (DFL) announced on Saturday evening.
"The player is fine, he has no symptoms," said Hanover's hygiene officer and team doctor Axel Partenheimer.
“Although we have adhered to all hygiene and safety regulations, there is no guarantee that such a case will not occur.
To protect the players and to prevent the infection from spreading further, the quarantine is essential.
We work closely with the responsible authorities and have discussions based on trust. "
After Holstein Kiel, Hanover is the second second division team that is currently in quarantine due to corona.
According to the current schedule, both teams should actually meet next Friday in Kiel.
