Forward Jonathan Schuldbrand will leave Hapoel Tel Aviv and is expected to retire from basketball, Israel Today has learned for the first time.
The player has been suffering from severe pain in recent months due to injuries and it was recently decided in consultation with the medical staff that he could not continue playing.
Because of this he will hang up his shoes after a glorious career.
Schuldbrand, 38, has had a rich career.
His father, Lawrence Schuldbrand, came from Sweden in the 1970s, married an Israeli woman, converted to Judaism and settled in Israel.
Jonathan began his professional career with Maccabi Carmiel and later played for several other teams before moving to several seasons in Sweden.
In 2011 he signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv and became one of the players identified with it for several seasons.
Later he also played for Maccabi Ashdod, Urbani Nahariya and Hapoel Eilat before returning to Hapoel Tel Aviv last summer.
