Winter Olympics 2022: the nice surprise Clarey, second medal for Chevalier-Bouchet… What happened on Monday

2022-02-07T13:08:55.942Z

Two silver medals for the Blues this Monday in Beijing: at 41, Johan Clarey shone on the downhill, while Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet

A beautiful day for French sport in Beijing.

Stuck at a medal since Saturday, the French delegation has tripled its bet thanks to Johan Clarey and Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet, both in silver.

France therefore now has three medals, all in silver.

We summarize what happened on this Monday.

Double blow for Chevalier-Bouchet

Despite her silver medal, she had not managed to be completely satisfied with her performance on the mixed relay.

This time, Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet owes her success only to herself: in the individual, the Frenchwoman went to win a superb 2nd place, just a few seconds behind the winner, the German Denise Herrmann.

The Iséroise was even able to believe in the title for a long time, but saw the gold fly away after a fault on her last standing shot.

Clarey's Glory Day

Time does not seem to have a hold on Johan Clarey, who won the best medal of his career at 41 years old.

In a very open descent, the Frenchman skied without complexes to win silver, just 0′'10 from the winner, the Swiss ultra-favorite Beat Feuz.

He thus became the oldest medalist in the history of alpine skiing at the Olympic Games.

A consecration for those who still did not want to hear about retirement in the finish area after the race.

🇬🇧🙌 JOHAN CLAREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

The medal smells (very) good for the 41-year-old Frenchman, second provisional time on the descent!

The curse continues for Worley

The Games never worked out for Tessa Worley and Beijing was no exception.

For her last Olympiad, the Frenchwoman once again failed to win a medal on the giant, her specialty, in which she has one of the finest records in history.

In ambush after the first run, with the seventh fastest time, she decided to ski aggressively in the second, even if it meant making a mistake.

Her hopes were finally dashed when she slammed into a door, which sent her to the ground.

The victory went to Sweden's Sara Hector.

Terrible for Tessa Worley 🇫🇷!

In big air, it's okay for Ledeux but not for Adelisse

Expected for a medal in the big air, Tess Ledeux passed the qualifying round without a hitch, in which she took 2nd place, thanks to two solid first runs.

The French however fell on her third jump, even if she got up without difficulty.

For Antoine Adelisse, on the other hand, the Olympic dream is already over, the fault of a judgment which he found "severe".

Handicapped in his preparation by two back fractures, he took 15th place, while only the first 12 reached the final.

Title for Russia in figure skating

The Russian Olympic Committee won the first gold medal of these Games in figure skating, in the team competition.

He owes a proud candle to his 15-year-old nugget, the reigning European champion, Kamila Valieva, who became the first woman in history to perform a quadruple jump at the Olympics.
