The first NFL game on German soil will take place in Munich.
This was announced by the football league on Wednesday.
The game will be played in the Allianz Arena in the coming season, but the NFL has not yet given an exact date.
In addition to Munich, Frankfurt was awarded the contract, and a total of four games will take place in Germany in the next four seasons.
Both cities will play two games each.
"We are happy to welcome Munich and Frankfurt to the NFL family and look forward to rewarding German fans with NFL spectacle," said NFL boss Roger Goodell.
Dusseldorf gets nothing
The German soccer record champion Bayern Munich has been working with the NFL since the opening of our US office in 2014," said CEO Oliver Kahn: "We are pleased to take this next step in our long-term partnership by hosting a regular NFL season game at our home stadium.«
A total of five games will be played outside of the United States next season.
In addition to Munich, there are three games in London and one in Mexico.
Munich and Frankfurt prevailed among a total of nine German applicant cities.
Most recently, the group of applicants had already been reduced to three locations, but Düsseldorf now received nothing.
