Germany is fighting for the next medals at the Olympic Games.

The most important decisions from Thursday in our news ticker.

3.05 p.m .:

From 2.30 p.m. the team relay competition of the lugers will run, Germany has a good chance of a medal.

The Polish team is currently leading the ranking ahead of Romania and the Czech Republic, and it is still the turn of the German quartet.

With Natalie Geisenberger, Johannes Ludwig and the doubles consisting of Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt, four gold medal winners will compete.

They are now hoping for their second precious metal in China.

1.50 p.m .:

Germany is hoping for the next medal!

Johannes Ludwig (Oberhof), Natalie Geisenberger (Miesbach) and Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt (Berchtesgaden/Schönau am Königssee) are about to start in the toboggan relay.

It starts at 2.30 p.m.

Can the Söderholm squad get off to a good start?

We are in the live ticker.

11.34 a.m .:

What is actually going on with the German snowboarders?

Again it was nothing with a medal.

First Stefan Baumeister and Ramona Hofmeister in the parallel giant slalom, now top favorite Martin Nörl in snowboard cross: three hopefuls whose dreams of gold in the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou all burst.

Sports director Alexander Scheid found clear words for this.

"We don't get it right.

You need this self-image to start here and win.

We didn't have that," he said: "When things really get down to business at the Olympic Games, some people can add ten percent more."

For Nörl there is still a small chance of redemption with Jana Fischer in the mixed team competition on Sunday, but "giving the medal as a goal would be excessive," said Scheid.

For the battered snowboarders it would be little consolation anyway.

08:59:

Katherine Sauerbrey was eleventh.

8.05 a.m .:

What’s up in cross-country skiing today?

The women's 10K takes place today.

A German medal is rather unlikely.

But let us surprise ourselves.

With a track record of 1:00.00 minutes, Grotheer got off to a perfect start in the first round on Thursday.

In the two final runs on Friday there is a chance for the first German men's medal at the Olympics.

06:32:

Olympic snowboard champion Chloe Kim has voiced her support for Chinese ski freestyle star Eileen Gu.

"I know how difficult it is for her.

It's not fair how she's being treated," said the American on Thursday after becoming the first woman to win Olympic gold in the halfpipe for a second time.

Gu, who was born in California and won her first of up to three possible gold medals for China in the Big Air competition in Beijing, had recently received numerous hate comments on social media from the USA.

"I'm proud that she made her decision at 15," Kim said.

At the time, her friend Gu asked her about the reasons for her decision in favor of the USA.

Kim's father immigrated to the United States from South Korea in 1982: "My family and my fans made the difference.

But everyone has their own reasons," she said.

A comparison with Gu is "not fair".

Nevertheless, the dominant downhill skier of the season made the trip to China, where she absolutely wants to compete in the supreme discipline on Tuesday.

The only German starter in the Super-G is Kira Weidle.

The World Championships second in the downhill is only one of the contenders for a medal in the second speed race.

Olympic news from February 9th: luge doubles win gold and silver

3:34 p.m .:

The German doubles Tobias Wendl / Tobias Arlt have won gold in the Olympic luge race for the third time in a row.

The duo from Bavaria prevailed on Wednesday just ahead of their long-time rivals Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken.

After two runs, the gap was 99 thousandths of a second, meaning the world champions from Thuringia won Olympic silver for the first time.

Bronze went to the Austrians Thomas Steu/Lorenz Koller.

"Anyone who knows us knows that we are fighters and biters," said Wendl on

ZDF

: "You can count on us at the climax every four years, and that's how it was again now." Because apart from the Winter Games, in the World Cup and at World Championships, Eggert/Benecken had always been stronger recently.

"Olympia has its own laws," said Eggert: "We can be proud of silver, but of course we wanted this gold."
