A match between Porto and its guest Club Sporting Lisbon in the 22nd round of the Portuguese Football League witnessed the expulsion of five players after the match went out of its sporting scope.
The referee initially sent off the Uruguayan player Sebastian Coates, the Sporting defender, after receiving two (yellow) cards, then sent off 4 other players at once in overtime, two players from the visiting team in addition to two players from Porto.
The nerves were not only tense between the players inside the green rectangle, but the unsportsmanlike shots extended to the margins of the stadium, where circulating video images showed the involvement of ball pickers in turn in the riots.
The inflamed match ended in a draw with two goals for each team, thus keeping Porto in the lead with 60 points, while Sporting Lisbon occupies second place with 54 points, 12 rounds before the end of the tournament.
