Salihamidzic rumbles against Matthew's criticism: "I don't care what Lothar says"

FCB legend Lothar Matthäus criticized two stars by name and now has a counterattack from Hasan Salihamidzic.

Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic reacted to the criticism of his former teammate with a short fuse.

“Of course Lothar has to say something.

He's an expert," said Salihamidzic with a mischievous smile on Wednesday evening at DAZN.

But that doesn't interest him.

"I don't care about that," said Salihamidzic irritably and added: "We know we made mistakes, that we didn't play well.

But we stand by our players, talk and work with them.

But I don't give a damn about what Lothar says."

Matthäus had previously addressed the defensive weaknesses of the record champions.

He specifically criticized the central defenders Dayot Upamecano and Lucas Hernádenez, who were brought together for more than 120 million euros, for whom the “price-performance ratio” has not yet been right.

The ex-Salzburger Upamecano, brought from Leipzig, wobbles too often and sometimes even seems like a "foreign body".

He's been there for seven months now and hasn't shown enough: "How much time should you give him?"

Matthäus also complained that the defense against Bochum consisted of four central defenders.

The fact is: Upamecano, signed by RB Leipzig for 42.5 million euros before the season, was substituted in Bochum at half-time and was on the bench at his former club in Salzburg.

World champion Hernandez couldn't get hold of Germany's new tempo dribbler Karim Adeyemi in the Mozart city and allowed himself to be boiled several times.

Salihamidzic and trainer Julian Nagelsmann both emphasized that the 4-2 defeat in Bochum had been dealt with internally.

"During the discussions, a lot of feedback and solutions came from the team," said Nagelsmann.

The new coach also countered Bayern patron Uli Hoeneß.

After the appearance in Salzburg, there should still be a need for discussion.
