No individual medal in these Games for Mikaela Shiffrin, again at fault on the combined. Kevin Rolland qualified for

It will be, a priori, a day without a medal for France.

But not without adventures for the blue delegation, which will have seen one of its flag bearers, Kevin Rolland, qualify for the halfpipe final.

Here is the summary of what happened that night.

Shiffrin's woes, Gisin's joy

She was aiming for a medal in each individual race in these Beijing Games, she should finally return to the United States empty-handed.

After going off the track in slalom and giant, Mikaela Shiffrin again made a mistake in the combined slalom, when she was perfectly placed after the descent.

The American star gives up the gold medal to the Swiss Michelle Gisin, already titled in Pyeongchang in 2018. She is ahead of her compatriot Wendy Holdener and the Italian Federica Brignone, while the first Frenchwoman, Laura Gauché, took 8th place.

The adventure continues for Rolland

Returning from hell, after his serious fall in 2019, which saw him come close to death, Kevin Rolland is still in the running for a second Olympic medal, after the bronze of Sochi in 2014. The French flag bearer, 32, has still got hot during qualifying.

While only the first 12 won their sesame for the final, the Frenchman was 10th after his first run (65.25), on the verge of elimination.

But he improved slightly (75.25) in the second to secure his spot in the final, which is on Saturday.

Gu flies over halfpipe qualifying

Titled in big air, silver in slopestyle, Eileen Gu is aiming for the pass of three on the halfpipe.

Engaged in qualifying, the Chinese made the two best runs of all the competitors, with a wide margin, and quietly clinched her place among the first 13.

Already one of the queens of these Olympic Games, she could leave her mark a little more during the final on Friday, in front of a sparse audience but committed to her cause.

Canada's Queens of Hockey

In the expected clash of the women's ice hockey tournament, the Canadians confirmed their dazzling superiority in the discipline.

Against the United States, they won the final (3-2, after leading 3-0) to obtain their fifth gold medal in the last six Olympics.

Impressive throughout the tournament, they scored a whopping 57 goals… in seven games.

The advanced female mass-start

Last chance for a medal for the French biathletes, the women's mass-start has been brought forward by one day, because of the weather forecast.

While it was to be run on Saturday, the race will finally take place on Friday (at 8 a.m.), two hours before that of the men.
