The longest away trip was worth it: The Erding Gladiators won 4-1 (0-0, 3-1, 1-0) at ERV Schweinfurt on Friday evening and defended first place in the relegation round.

Erding's coach had almost the same squad available as last weekend, i.e. 14 field players - with one difference in terms of personnel: His U20 teammate Leo Schreiber played for Maxi Knallinger.

And so Vogl again had nine strikers and five defenders available.

The first few minutes belonged to the Gladiators, who had chances through Philipp Michl and Daniel Krzizok, but ERV goalkeeper Benedict Roßberg was on his toes.

But then his counterpart Christoph Schedlbauer took center stage.

A threatening situation arose when he drove behind his goal to intercept the puck, but it suddenly bounced off the boards and landed in front of the goal.

Schedlbauer was also able to save, as he did a little later when Dylan Hood appeared alone in front of him (8th).

Then Erding was able to free himself a bit and the game was balanced.

Gabriel Gwaron was unlucky in the end (15'), on the other side Christian Masel failed at Schedlbauer (16').

In the second half, too, both teams played with open visors.

There was a hard fight for every inch of ice and neither goalkeeper had to complain about a lack of activity.

Michael Trox was unlucky (23'), Joshua Bourne fired a free-standing shot over it at the other end (26'), and in return David Hrazdira failed at keeper Roßberg.

But then the Gladiators had the majority and Philipp Michl scored to make it 1-0 for Erding.

But shortly thereafter, the Mighty Dogs had the majority and Hood was lucky to make it 1-1 – Schedlbauer was beaten again after 161 minutes.

The final phase in the second third was turbulent.

With a majority, Krzizok put the Gladiators ahead (38') and 83 seconds later Hrazdira completed a break to make it 3-1.

The final third was a single run by the Mighty Dogs towards the Erdinger Tor, but thanks to Schedlbauer and a great effort, the Gladiators were able to keep their goal clean.

And when Michael Trox scored in one of the few counterattacks to make it 4:1, Erdinger's victory was perfect.
