The Gladiators have to admit defeat to Geretsried 4:5 after extra time.

Erding

– More than 600 spectators saw an incredibly exciting game, with a constantly changing lead, on Sunday evening in the Stadtwerke Erding Arena.

It was 4:4 (2:2, 1:1, 1:1) after 60 minutes between the Erding Gladiators and ESC Geretsried, the guests secured the additional point with the 5:4 in extra time.

The Erdinger squad had shrunk further, coach Thomas Vogl could only muster 13 field players.

The River Rats, on the other hand, had four attacking lines at the start, immediately put a lot of pressure and took the lead after 89 seconds through Ondrej Horvath.

As a result, the guests got a few penalties, which the gladiators punished perfectly.

Mark Waldhausen (6th) and David Hrazdira (8th) scored in the power play and turned the game around.

It got dramatic in the 17th minute.

In the majority, Philipp Michl shot past the empty goal after a dream combination, in direct return Horvath ran alone towards Erdinger goal, but failed at the famous Christoph Schedlbauer.

However, he was powerless five seconds before the end of the period when a shot by Marek Haloda made it 2-2 with Geretsrieder outnumbered.

When one player from each team was in the penalty box at the beginning of the middle third and a penalty against Erding was also indicated, a shot by Josef Reiter made it 3:2 for the extremely biting River Rats (27th) - game turned.

By the second break, the Gladiators still had two power play opportunities but didn't score.

A little later, when the outnumbered Erdingers had survived a few dicey situations unscathed, Waldhausen sent striker Michel Trox on his way, who finished eight seconds before the siren to make it 3:3.

The hard fight at high speed continued in the third period.

When the penalty was announced against the guests, Hrazdira heaved the puck into the net to make it 4:3 for Erding – the game turned around (44th).

But a dust-off by Florian Strobl just four minutes later brought the River Rats back into play.

When three Erdingers had to go to the penalty box in quick succession - after very controversial decisions - Geretsried had a great chance to make it 5:4, but Schedlbauer made a sensational save.

But in extra time, Benedikt May scored for the River Rats to make the game 5:4.
