Pure Syrian Arab horses have a long story with history that everyone who acquired them and kept their breeding as an authentic heritage knows, especially among those families who inherited the breeding of these horses for decades.

In the Arab deserts, especially the Syrian one, the Arabian horse originated, and from there it was launched to the world with its unique qualities, perhaps the most prominent of which is strength and speed. The Syrian genealogical books came to document the history of these breeds, according to one of the most important experiences of Arab horses, Basil Al-Jadaan, member of the Executive Committee of the World Arabian Horse Organization.

In a statement to SANA, Al-Jadaan said, “The purebred Arabian horse in Syria is receiving great attention. The Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, through the Arabian Horses Office, documents the records of breeds and breeds through specific procedures for registration. It also provides feed rations for breeders, while the role of the Syrian Association for Purebred Arabian Horses comes to encourage continuity. In education to preserve this wealth by organizing activities, races and championships every year through an annual agenda.”

Al-Jadaan added: Syria hosted many festivals and international activities, perhaps the most prominent of which was the meeting of the World Arabian Horse Organization in 2007, and before the Corona pandemic, Syria was able to set up a thoroughbred Arabian horse festival in Damascus at the international level, and it achieved success at all levels.

Al-Jadaan mentioned that the number of Arab horses registered in Syria is approximately 10,000, pointing out that the number increases every year from the previous one through new births that are registered in coordination with the breeders after the blood samples required to be matched with his parents are drawn in the accredited laboratory for this topic.

He pointed out that, in recent years, a great trend has been observed to breed the pure Syrian horse for its unique characteristics in terms of strength, agility, beauty and pure proportions.

Al-Jadaan, "which is the international referee approved for the beauty championships of Arab horses," explained that the most prominent characteristics that distinguish Arab horses from foreign horses are that their head is medium in size, their eyes are large, their ears are erect, and their forehead is wide, in addition to their large chest cage to inhale the largest amount of oxygen to the lungs, which makes them more able to breathe. It carries long races, indicating that it is one of the most prominent colors of the Arabian horse, "blond, blue and red", and its famous horses and stalls are Al-Kahila, Al-Dahma, Al-Manaqia, Al-Shuwayma, Saqlawiyah, Karush, Umm Arqoub, Al-Nawakiyah, Al-Hamdaniya and Al-Abayat.

It is noteworthy that Syria joined the “WAHO” organization in 1989 and issued the first genealogy book for purebred Arabian horses in 1990 and has continued in these publications regularly to this day, where the number of these books has reached 24 books.
