The police respond: "The fans threw chairs and a fire hose at us" Israel today

"As part of a preliminary preparation by the Israel Police yesterday, for a game held at Sami Ofer, in order to maintain the safety and security of the public, the police blocked the roads leading to the stadium and searched the buses that took the fans to the field.

"During the search, the police seized many assault vehicles that the fans intended to bring into the stadium with them and confiscated them.

"During the game, dozens of fans, shouting and insults against the policemen who worked in the stadium spat on them and pushed the police fences that were in place.

"Upon hearing the final whistle of the game, the fans began to displace ten chairs that were thrown at the opposing team's stand and police arrived to disperse the fans. Who were displaced.

"Meanwhile, the police arrested two fans, a minor and an adult, who were suspected of being involved in the violent riots, all the while throwing chairs and various objects at them.

As stated, the suspects were arrested and taken for questioning at the Haifa police station, when at the end of the investigation the suspects were released under restrictive conditions, including a 30-day ban from football fields.

"The Israel Police will work hard against any case of violence and disorder and will bring to justice those who choose to turn the sports experience into a violent event."
