Ski crosser Daniela Maier has to give back her bronze medal from the Olympic Games in Beijing.
The competent commission of the International Ski Federation Fis thus granted a protest by the Swiss Ski Federation Swiss Ski against the result of the race on February 17th.
This was announced by the Fia on Saturday.
Bronze goes to Fanny Smith from Switzerland, who was demoted to fourth place by the jury after the final because of Maier's disability.
In a collision between Smith and Maier, the Swiss had taken a big step to the side, which had disabled Maier.
The guardians of the rules had recognized an intention in this, which must be a prerequisite for punishment.
"That's completely wrong," Smith protested right after the race and announced an objection.
It was now successful.
