On the large plexiglass windows of the old Montbauron stadium, where the Versaillese prepared for their semi-final against Nice (9 p.m. on
Eurosport
), large Coupe de France stickers and posters recall the royal epic of the amateur club this season in the “Doyenne”.
The image is a little misleading because, as against Toulouse (Ligue 2), dismissed in the round of 16, the Football Club of Versailles will not welcome the Aiglons in its enclosure planted in the heart of the city.
Already forced to play on the TFC pitch, the National 2 club (4th division) will therefore still face "at home" but 934 km away the third in Ligue 1. The Montbauron stadium and its 7,545 seats, inaugurated in 1961, is unfortunately not approved by the French Football Federation, due in particular to an unusual lighting problem.
