After being eliminated from the Paralympic Games, Russia will hold exchange games in Sochi | Israel today

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Olympic Committee decided that Russia and Belarus would not participate in the Paralympic Games • Now the Russians have decided to hold a counter-competition together with Belarus

After Russia and Belarus were eliminated from the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing 2022 due to the invasion of Ukraine, the two countries will hold exchange games at the Olympic site in Sochi.

The events will take place in places that were previously used for the Paralympics, when the dates and name have not yet been announced.

The Russian Ministry of Sports has approved the plan, as reported by the state news agency TASS.

The use of Sochi places could add further insult to the Ukrainians, and further tarnish the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as just a week before the opening ceremony of the 2014 Paralympic Winter Olympics, Russian forces have taken over most of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula.

Russia has vowed to remain in force until the situation is "normalized" and a referendum on whether the region will secede from Ukraine was held in March 2014 - the same day the graduation ceremony took place.

The annexation caused some Western countries, led by the United States and Britain, not to send government officials to the opening ceremony.

As you may recall, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has decided not to involve Russia and Belarus in the Paralympic Winter Games that kicked off yesterday in Beijing.
