The two clubs had requested this change from the FFF and were successful.

Why such a joint request from the Aiglons and the Canaries?

Why such a measure from the FFF?

If the final was originally scheduled for May 8, it was in the event of a French club participating in a semi-final of the Europa League and / or Europa Conference League, the return match of which is fixed Thursday, May 5.

However, the elimination of AS Monaco, the only club among the four semi-finalists entered in European competition, made this hypothesis disappear and therefore made it possible to replace the final on the usual date of Saturday evening.

"This decision was taken by the FFF, in consultation with the finalist clubs and the broadcasters of the Coupe de France - France Télévisions and Eurosport -, announced this Saturday the FFF in a press release.

This choice of the FFF will allow all supporters of OGC Nice and FC Nantes to participate more easily in this great football celebration that represents the final of the Coupe de France.

In addition, this program suits both Nice and Nantes.

For both clubs, a final on Saturday makes it easier for supporters to travel and offers the possibility of a great party on Sunday for the return of the winner, more so than on a Monday.

Coincidence: the final of this 105th edition will be played 22 years to the day after Nantes' last victory in the Coupe de France, on May 7, 2000, against Calais fans (2-1).

This season, the Canaries have in turn eliminated Sochaux (L2), Vitré (N2), Brest (L1), Bastia (L2) and Monaco (L1).

For its part, Nice released Cholet (National), the two clubs at the top of Ligue 1 (Paris and Marseille), and finally Versailles (N2).

Can't wait for the 7th...
