In a difficult match for the Brestois, the light came from Frank Honorat in Lens (0-1).
While his team suffered for a good part of the match the pressing imposed by Lens, the Breton number 9 managed to deliver his team in the second half.
Too harmless throughout the first period, the Bretons relied on Honorat who was responsible for offering the 3 points to his team like a grown-up.
At the end of a raid on the right, the Brest striker got rid of Kevin Danso and Massadio Haïdara, to find himself alone against Jean-Louis Leca whom he deceived with a ball stung with his right foot (59th).
On his only shot of the match, Frank Honorat therefore allows Michel Der Zakarian's men to come and win in Lens for the first time since 1963.
Bizot solid against Lensoise attacks
If the Brestois managed to bring back a positive result from the Bollaert-Delelis stadium, it is also largely thanks to a solid defensive base valued by their goalkeeper Marco Bizot.
Throughout the game, the Dutch goalkeeper disgusted the Lensois on the few clear chances they managed to create.
Author of 5 saves, Bizot had a solid match and often intervened against opposing attackers, especially in the air.
Very reassuring, the 30-year-old player confirmed his team's good defensive performance and left the North with a clean sheet to his credit.
FLOPS
The ineffectiveness of the Lensois attackers
Throughout the game, the Lensois imposed a high pace on their opponents and mainly played in the Brest half of the field.
But to win you have to score.
What the Lensois attackers failed to do today.
Gaël Kakuta tried his luck several times (10th, 41st) but failed to succeed and crossed paths with a concentrated Bizot.
The other Sang et Or attackers like Kalimuendo and Sotoca also failed to score a goal.
Sotoca lacked success by cutting off a cross from Clauss (56th) but Bizot made a superb save to keep his goal clean.
The usual RC Lens frames inside
During a match that they generally mastered, the Lensois failed to make the difference.
However, this home game should have allowed them to get back into the race for European qualification.
On this kind of meeting, the difference must come from the senior players in the squad who unfortunately did not manage to raise their level of play today.
In the midfield, Doucouré and Fofana despite a large possession of the ball did not bring enough offensively.
The same goes for Jonathan Clauss.
The Lensois right piston tried several crosses but found his partners too little.
On set pieces, one of his main qualities, the number 11 of Lens does not
failed to turn the game around by completely missing a first free kick (48th) and seeing his second well stopped by Bizot (51st).
The executives seemed somewhat exhausted this afternoon.
