FC Bayern has its major weakness in defense.

New transfers are planned for the summer.

A central defender and an outside defender should come.

Munich – The defense is still the big construction site at Bayern*.

Julian Nagelsmann does not get the defense tight.

That became abundantly clear again last weekend in the 1-1 draw against Leverkusen.

Before the game, the coach had preached about the necessary remaining defense - in vain.

In the end, they were happy that the Werkself didn't convert the numerous scoring chances into a Bayern goal. Only Thomas Müller managed that with an own goal.

Significant once again is the hair-raising back pass from Dayot Upamecano, who was chosen as the new defensive boss before the season.

While the offensive delivers regularly, the defense does not meet the demands of FC Bayern.

Lewandowski & Co. extended their record streak to 72 Bundesliga games in a row with their own goal, in the Champions League there are 29 games in a row with at least one goal before the Salzburg game.

On the other hand, Bayern only kept two clean sheets in nine games in the second half of the season.

That's why FC Bayern wants and needs to be active on the transfer market in the summer.

The bosses plan to upgrade the defenses.

FC Bayern is looking for a central defender and a "professional" for right-back, reports

It should be a "kind of copy" of Alphonso Davies.

The 21-year-old impresses on his left side with enormous speed and strong dribbling.

Qualities that the trained central defender Benjamin Pavard does not have to offer on the right side.

The Frenchman is planned for the future anyway.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann has long wanted a counterpart to left-back Davies for the right side.

But in his first two transfer phases as FCB coach, this wish was denied by the bosses around sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and CEO Oliver Kahn.

There are currently three transfer candidates on Bayern's list for the right-back position.

But then 45 million euros for the transfer were apparently too expensive.

The search has not yielded any results since then.

To classify: Last summer Dayot Upamecano came from Leipzig for 42.5 million euros.

Even more burning is the question of a new central defender.

Especially after Niklas Süle, Bayern's most reliable defender, made a definite move to Borussia Dortmund next summer.

Since David Alaba left Real Madrid, there has been no ordering hand in the FCB defense.

According to an internal requirement profile, Bayern are looking for a central defender who “has a claim to leadership and can play football”.

The ideal model for the second problem position is also clearly defined here.

"A guy like David Alaba," they say.

The Austrian masters the well-aimed pass into the depth and top, which cannot be said of Lucas Hernandez and Dayot Upamecano, who are more responsible for the rough.

However, the specialist magazine does not name specific names.
