First publication.

Uri Sasson (32) will announce his retirement from professional judo in May.

The 2016 bronze medalist and one of the most decorated athletes in the history of Israeli sports in general and Israeli judo in particular (two Olympic medals, one individual and one team) - will not continue for the Paris 2024 campaign.

Sasson, who is currently filming himself for the series "Connected," will enter a press conference as part of the series' plot, in which he will announce his retirement.

Anyone who came to the Tel Aviv Grand Slam last month saw Sasson walking around with a personal camera documenting what was happening before and behind the scenes.

Sasson, of course, did not participate in the competition.

Sasson, who is considered the heir of Arik Zeevi, had a successful career, which included winning two silver medals at the European Championships over 100 kg (2015 and 2016), and in addition to the Olympic medals he added the continental ones - more than 15.

The Jerusalem judoka started his career with his brother, who also practiced professional judo, and surprised when he spread his wings with a heroic medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics, from which the incident with the Egyptian judoka who refused to shake hands is also remembered.

Sasson is considered one of the most beloved athletes in Israel, and when he participated in the singing competition "Singer in a Mask" as a portion of falafel, he gained immense popularity among spectators.

He also served as a presenter for various companies in the economy.

There is no doubt that the 32-year-old athlete will be missing from the Israeli team at the Olympic Games in Paris.
