In the top game of the promotion round of the Bavarian ice hockey league, EHC Klostersee defended its first place and even extended its lead.

In a high-class match at TEV Miesbach, the Grafingers won 5:4 after a penalty shoot-out despite being three goals behind.

Grafing

- "Stay compact and work hard," said coach Dominik Quinlan with his red and white between warm-up and face-off.

After the surprising 3:6 two days earlier in Peißenberg, the hosts had something to make up for.

The Klosterseer didn't have an easy time in the first ten minutes and were often pushed onto the defensive due to two penalties.

Two or three dangerous relief counterattacks were possible, but the well-thought-out 0:1 by Canadian Patrick Asselin could not be prevented (10th).

With intense commitment and physical presence, the EHC bit its way back into the action.

Almost three minutes after the deficit, Florian Engel scored the 1:1.

In the pursuit, after Florian Gaschke got through behind the opposing goal and Bob Wren had made an attempt just over the bar.

After the first tea break, the Miesbachers got off to a better start again.

Philipp Hähl cleared when Stefano Rizzo went it alone in dire need (21st).

Then, opposite Klostersee, he had the lead on the racket several times.

Anian Geratsdorfer saved twice against Wren and Engel (24th/27th).

In a direct counter-attack, Yannick Kischer's attempt at clearance went wrong and landed on Felix Feuerreiter's blade, who made it 2-1 (27th).

That changed the static again.

Now the hosts seemed a bit fresher and livelier, decided the little things for themselves.

The TEV team took advantage of the Grafinger defensive behavior twice and the score was 4:1 (34th/38th).

Hardly anyone in the well-attended stands with more than 500 spectators would have believed that the preliminary decision had not already been made.

She wasn't.

Because in the final section, the Klostersee body language dominated what was happening on the ice.

The fast 2:4 by Vitus Gleixner (official goal scorer: Christian Hummer) gave impetus.

Head coach Quinlan's changes paid off.

The Grafinger constricted their opponent in his defensive zone.

They deservedly equalized with goals from Gaschke and Kischer (46th/51st).

After a high-quality overtime, Philipp Quinlan sunk the decisive penalty – 5:4, as in the previous week.
