FC Bayern II: Freisinger Manuel Kainz is out longer after knee surgery

The FC Bayern Munich amateurs will have to do without their goalkeeper Manuel Kainz in the coming weeks.

The 20-year-old injured his knee during training.

The FC Bayern Munich amateur goalkeeper suffered a knee injury in training, according to the club.

The 20-year-old underwent surgery last week and will not be available to Martín Demichelis' team for the next few weeks.

Kainz has made nine appearances so far in the current regional league season, in which he has kept three clean sheets.

The native of Freising was already represented by Johannes Schenk at the weekend.

A total of four goalkeepers have been used for the second team of the record champions this season.

Manuel Kainz first extended his contract until 2024

Kainz recently extended his contract on Säbener Straße until 2024.

“Manuel is a homegrown and a true Munich resident.

We are very pleased that he will continue his development with us and will remain in goal for FC Bayern for the next few years," explained Holger Seitz, sporting director at the FC Bayern campus, at the time.

The 20-year-old has been playing for the German record champions since he was a junior.

In 2016 he moved from SE Freising to the Bavarian capital.
