, Denis Thuriot, mayor of Nevers, is working for the return of the most prestigious of automobile competitions to the Magny-Cours circuit as part of a European Grand Prix.
The city councilor wishes to take advantage of the European summit devoted to telecommunications, which is partly held on the circuit this Tuesday and Wednesday, to highlight this project.

Last year, Magny-Cours positioned itself, in vain, to recover a World Championship event after the cancellation of the Turkish Grand Prix.
At the request of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the F1 layout created in 1988 at the instigation of François Mitterrand has recently been modernized.
After having hosted the French Grand Prix between 1991 and 2008, Magny-Cours is therefore not positioning itself as a competitor to the Paul-Ricard to host the French event but to organize a European Grand Prix.
This continental meeting, run 23 times, has not appeared on the calendar since 2016 (in Azerbaijan).
