The early registration for the European U18 Championship to be held at the Givat Ram Stadium in Jerusalem ended tonight (Thursday), in which 1347 people registered.
Of these, 943 are athletes who are supposed to compete in a variety of disciplines.
The encouraging news ahead of the competition is that Ukraine is also expected to send about 40 athletes to the competition as of early registration.
It is important to note that these numbers are not final and are expected to increase in proximity to the final registration in June 2022.
Ami Bern, chairman of the association: "We are very happy that athletes from Ukraine have registered, but we are also concerned about the situation there.
We very much hope that everyone who registers will indeed come. "
"The large number of participants that will come to Israel can only contribute to positive exposure to the country and the possibility of hosting more major sports competitions here. Especially in athletics. I hope it will also give the signal to the Ministry of Sports and the Sports Director that we are able and want to host more major competitions."
The European Under-18 Athletics Championships is part of a series of events this year in Israel that began at the Tel Aviv Judo Grand Prix, along with the European Gymnastics Championships, the 470 World Championships, the Maccabiah and more.
