It is still open whether HSV will rise.

Nevertheless, sports director Boldt and sports director Mutzel are working on the squad.

An overview of what should happen.

Hamburg – April does what it wants, at least that's what the well-known proverb says when it comes to the weather.

That may be even more true than elsewhere when it comes to Hamburg weather*, where storms like “Zeynep” or “Ylenia” or “Nadia” sometimes rage, but then the most beautiful sunshine quickly prevails again.

One or the other Hamburger will certainly be happy to confirm it.

But April, and this is the link to Hamburger SV*, also has a completely different meaning.

An immense one for that second division club from Hamburg*.

Seven competitive games in the second division are scheduled for HSV in April 2022.

Eight games in which the weal and woe of the club from the Volksparkstadion* depends on whether the team of HSV coach Tim Walter* writes more good or bad HSV news – both what the future league membership of HSV after 30. June 2022 as well as the future HSV squad.

HSV squad: Sports director Jonas Boldt and sports director Michael Mutzel don't have to manage a change this time

Because the squad wants to be planned - just like in all the years in which HSV in the second Bundesliga has meanwhile gambled away the leap back into the Bundesliga.

This will happen in 2022 for sports director Jonas Boldt*, who recently made an impressive commitment to HSV, and sports director Michael Mutzel* is not the same as a mammoth task, but it is no less special.

Precisely because HSV, where there is a misunderstanding between the HSV fans and the management when it comes to promotion, does not know in which league it will play from the summer.

It starts with the new HSV main sponsor, who will be joining from July 2022*: In the first league he allows more money to flow than in the second league.

Logical.

And so Boldt and Mutzel have to plan on two tracks - the famous scenario that has overtaken so many clubs that were fighting for promotion and - symbolically speaking - did not know at which table they would eat from which plate in the following season.

Even if the club from the Volksparkstadion has one or the other construction site when it comes to the squad of the future, HSV has an advantage in terms of personnel planning: Anno 2022 Boldt and Mutzel do not have to manage a radical change in the HSV squad.

And: As far as the Hamburger* squad is concerned, the club, for example, already made the famous important nails with heads early on with the HSV talents.

Future HSV squad: Talents should be tied to the club in the long term – Muheim and Vuskovic remain on loan

With Felix Paschke and Arlind Rexhepi, two who could own the future in the Volkspark have already extended.

With Elijah Krahn, another HSV talent is also about to extend his contract*.

With Miro Muheim, whom HSV has committed until 2025*, and Mario Vuskovic, for whom HSV has reached deep into their wallets*, it is also clear that they will continue to spend their future in the Volkspark after their loans to HSV.

On top of that, HSV has already extended the contract with goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes, who not only became the HSV hero in the DFB Cup against Karlsruher SC*, but is also an important HSV backing.

If, as a keen observer of the HSV squad for the future, you add that other key players such as captain Sebastian Schonlau*, Jonas Meffert* who came in the summer or striker Robert Glatzel* are still under contract in Hamburg and also the working papers of players like Sonny Kittel* or Moritz Heyer* only expire in the summer of 2023, the HSV squad for the coming season has a good foundation around which Boldt and Mutzel can build – even if the Hamburger Morgenpost, for example, Robert Glatzel as a possible candidate for throws Bundesliga clubs into the cooking pot of the transfer rumor mill.

HSV squad: The axis of the Walter team is in place – but these players no longer have a future in Hamburg

His departure would undoubtedly weaken the HSV squad, but would only be an issue if HSV really needs coal at any price.

Josha Vagnoman*, a candidate for sale before last season, will not necessarily bring it in with a transfer in summer 2022 after a long injury break.

The transfer policy of Messrs Boldt and Mutzel when putting together the HSV squad of the future is likely to be similar to that in summer and winter, when with the – admittedly flopped – Englishman Tommy Doyle* and Danish striker Mikkel Kaufmann and most recently Georgi Chakvetadze players were only borrowed at first.

Kaufmann disappointed, was last suspended at HSV* and should no longer have a future at HSV.

With the talent Anssi Suhonen, who is still tied to the club, the HSV wants to extend prematurely *.

Jan Gyamerah, who recently sparked interest in Spain* and VfL Bochum*, should go, as should Manuel Wintzheimer.

Neither of them have such a status in the HSV squad that they are not considered for sale.

In the case of Maximilian Rohr, the signs are pointing to an extension at HSV* – this has just recently been reported by the Bild newspaper.

So the fact is: “There will be no upheaval”, as sports director Jonas Boldt has already stated.

HSV squad: Tim Walter should also be responsible as coach in the coming season

"We are on the path of development and see ourselves on the right path," continued Boldt, "it's about keeping everything together as best as possible and only making selective additions." The sports director of HSV said this on TV at Sport1, where he a question about a possible separation from HSV coach Tim Walter complained *.

Here, too, it is clear: the "doers" in the Volkspark around HSV boss Boldt will continue to rely on Walter - even if promotion should not succeed once again, the coach should stay with HSV.
