The World Cup will take place in Qatar at the end of 2022.

The DFB team is entering the hot phase, with two important friendlies coming up.

On the PK there are interesting statements.

Ticker to read.

  • The controversial World Cup 2022* will take place in Qatar from the end of November.

  • The DFB team completes the first international appearances of the year - against Israel and the Netherlands.

  • At the press conference on Thursday (March 24), Julian Weigl and David Raum will comment, we are in the live ticker.

>>> UPDATE <<<

1:51 p.m .:

That was it!

DFB spokesman Jens Grittner says goodbye to Julian Weigl and admits that the midfielder was "really abused".

Finally, Weigl was confronted with a lot of questions from the journalists.

After five years of DFB abstinence *, however, you had a lot of catching up to do – everyone agrees with a smile.

The PK of the German national team ended on March 24th.

Thank you for reading!

1:47 p.m .:

Finally, Weigl lets you know how the World Cup in Qatar is rated within the team and also his club.

The players would talk about it, but you don't know the real background - only "what is explained in the media".

However, the topic of organizers and the criticized handling of human rights would concern many a professional.

1:44 p.m .:

Is Julian Weigl still following the Bundesliga and is he dreaming of returning to his homeland?

"First of all, it's important for us to end the season well." He would sit down with his family every summer and weigh up whether staying or moving would make sense - "but I feel very comfortable in Lisbon," he explains Ex-Dortmunder.

DFB team – PK in the live ticker: returnee Weigl on the World Cup mission and Benfica adventure

1:38 p.m .:

Weigl wants to “radiate the same presence as in the club,” explains the 26-year-old.

He also talks about the comparison between the Portuguese league and the Bundesliga.

There is a bigger gap between top teams and teams below.

The league itself "is good" and the games are often hard-fought.

He is also asked about the behavior of fans when they see him on the street.

"Benfica keeps the whole country busy, so it's often more difficult for us to go out." However, the Portuguese fans are very warm and sometimes leave you alone when you are in a "private situation, for example on the playground."

1:31 p.m .:

Julian Weigl, who is returning to the DFB squad after a few years, wants to “help the team, convince” and transfer his role from the club to the DFB selection.

The Portuguese-by-choice assesses his chances for a World Cup ticket as follows: "Quickly accept the coach's game idea, take my place and demand the balls," explains the Benfica star.

He wants to show that Hansi Flick can rely on him - and "at all times".

Of course, success with Lisbon is also part of it for him, because if the club were even able to reach the semi-finals, that would also play into his DFB chances.

1:26 p.m .:

The ex-Lion Weigl seems to have matured visibly.

He talks about frenetic Portuguese supporters and how valuable it is that you can lose with your team - but it's less of a problem when you come home and your little daughter smiles at you.

1:23 p.m .:

Julian Weigl, who is in the quarter-finals with Benfica, is now his turn.

He chats about his Portugal adventure and explains that he also wants to "order and create stability" in the midfield of the DFB team.

National team in the PK: Hoffenheim's shooting star the new cabin DJ?

1:20 p.m .:

Raum explains that Liverpool’s Andy Robertson is one of his idols and role models.

“Maybe I can overtake him at some point,” smiles the 1899 shooting star.

With that, the nimble full-back is released from the PK and can go to the dining room... This is followed by the flying change to Julian Weigl!

1:16 p.m .:

What are the goals for the season finale?

"Of course we want to compete internationally with Hoffenheim so that we can prove ourselves in this environment." He also explains whether he emulates the fitness fanatics Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski when it comes to nutrition: "I try to take care of my body, I also do yoga now.

Luckily I've been injury-free for some time." In general, he is "well under control", but one should "reward oneself" from time to time - and by that he means food.

1:11 p.m .:

Hoffenheim’s “cabin DJ” explains whether he also wants to take on this role with the DFB team: “I’ll just leave it at that to listen to my music in the room.” He raves about the environment at TSG and explains it Importance of how important it is to be able to perform in a calm environment like in the Kraichgau.

DFB team: Raum explains the approach for the senior national team

1:08 p.m .:

"It would be a dream to play my first World Cup," Hoffenheim said.

He comments on youth work in the DFB and the nomination of some U21 title holders.

The left-back was nominated because of "sharp crosses" and "quick advances" - and he would like to act in a similar way with the DFB team as with his club.

1:03 p.m .:

The answer?

There is no justification.

Hoffenheim's David Raum welcomes the participants in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt and talks about the game against Israel on Saturday at his home ground in Sinsheim.

1:02 p.m .:

It should actually start now!

But the PK of the DFB team does not get going.

Let's see on what grounds the players will (probably) start operations shortly.

12:56 p.m .:

The connection is already established.

In the background we hear the rumblings of the assembled media crowd.

It shouldn't be long before the first protagonist from the DFB team appears on the podium.

12:53 p.m .:

Delay in Frankfurt!

It's actually scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m.

But the live stream does not go on air.

Are there any technical difficulties at the DFB headquarters?

The new start is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Maybe the training session of national coach Flick lasted a little longer...

12.42 p.m .:

It will start in a few minutes.

Weigl and Raum are two protagonists who are by no means sure of their participation in the World Cup in Qatar.

They will probably be asked about their ticket chances and how the training days of the national team's first meeting in 2022 went.

DFB team in the PK: Weigl and Raum speak in Frankfurt

Frankfurt - The start of the World Cup year has two international matches in store for the German national team: on Saturday (March 26) they face Israel, three days later on Tuesday the big game against the Netherlands is on the agenda.

At a press conference in the DFB headquarters in Frankfurt, protagonists of the DFB team comment on the upcoming tasks.

On Thursday there are two shooting stars in the German squad.

Julian Weigl, who is in the quarter-finals of the Champions League* with Benfica Lisbon.

David Raum from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will answer questions about this.

The left-back played for Greuther Fürth last season and has made it into the squad for the German national team thanks to strong performances.
