So few women call the shots in German sport

2022-03-25T09:58:21.704Z

Women are still underrepresented in the management levels of German sports associations. In football, the election of Donata Hopfen as managing director of the DFL made headlines – but this is not representative.

In the 160 companies listed on the Dax, MDax and SDax, the number of female executive board members has recently increased within a year from 74 to 94 top managers, or 13.4 percent.

In German sport, on the other hand, men like to keep to themselves – even though women were recently elected to 4 of 14 posts on the DFB executive committee.

An even worse picture can be seen in the clubs of the top leagues.

According to a study by the specialist medium "Stadionwelt", not even ten percent of the club's executive boards were women.
