It's already starting well: In the A-Class 6, SV Söchering has to go up against table leader Krün.

It will be seen whether the SVS will continue to play for the title.

Söchering – Christian Strobl, the eternal admonisher at SV Söchering, is actually ready for a course correction.

As a reminder: Despite the sensational start of his team in the A-Class 6, he still spoke of relegation, which should be avoided.

But they can no longer dismount.

So really not anymore.

SV Söchering is 31 points ahead of last place.

With ten games left.

"Somehow we were lucky," says the coach of the league second.

And now?

Söchering holds pretty good cards in his hand when it comes to the relegation place.

Even the championship title is still within reach with four points behind.

"Nothing is written off.

But if you want first place, you have to win ten games.”

With which we would have reached the well-known problems of SV Söchering.

Nothing has changed over the winter, except that one or the other has a small stomach for a walk, as trainer Strobl jokes.

There are still too few regular training sessions, but there are understandable excuses for this – building a house, working on the farm, family, job and, for some, the after-effects of a corona infection.

Strobl gives examples of kickers who were fit to run and now have great difficulty getting used to this form.

“Lots of small factors” add up week after week.

In order to catch up, Christian Strobl had actually planned a training camp in South Tyrol.

"You can get one or the other up again." Six units in a row, compressed hardening and steels in Italy.

but failed

because not enough people signed up.

A vicious circle.

"We'd rather stay here and train at home," says the coach.

But Strobl has been in the business long enough.

The coach knows that other teams feel the same way.

He relies on his proven program.

Condition, speed, passes – creating the basics is what he calls his complete course for the next month until the start against SV Krün this Sunday.

"Brutal opening program," says the SVS trainer.

The decision about the title will be made in the first league game of 2022 - or the deck of cards will be reshuffled, depending on the result.

Whereby Strobl refers to the variables that can still mix up this Corona season.

He believes that infections, newcomers and – from his point of view – preparation are crucial in the fight for the title.

"Without training, no one has a chance up there."

At least the test games went well in Söchering.

Strobl tapped into his contacts all over the surrounding area and arranged friendlies at clubs with artificial turf pitches.

"If I know someone well, we'll play there," he explains.

A nice side effect: Söchering gets away cheaply and does not have to rent the artificial turf pitches.

In the first test in Penzberg against the district classists ESV, a decent result (2:2) was achieved, although Strobl evaluated the test according to different standards.

He asked his core team to work themselves out "until no one can anymore".

Under these circumstances, you also have to look at the playful 2-0 lead.

Jonas Klemm, top scorer, scored for Penzberg and for Strobl something like the player of the first half of the season at SVS.

"He's amazing," praises the coach.

Actually, Klemm plays in midfield.

But because they had few alternatives in attack after Anton Guggemoos' rib injury, Klemm was given a new task.

"When he sees opportunities, it rattles," Strobl praises.

He has scored eleven goals so far.

In addition to Klemm, the defensive will judge the weal and woe in the fight for the title, so far the flagship formation at SVS, which the coach once jokingly described as “safer than the Bank of England”.

Even the midfield is – unlike in the past – oriented towards the back.

With three goalkeepers at league level, the Söcheringers have a rare luxury.

13 goals conceded in 16 games is nice to read during the winter break, but in order to actually defend second place, "they have to work hard for it again," emphasizes Coach Strobl.

"They don't get anything for free."
