A longing for sailors and island hoppers, a dream travel destination - but recently also associated with the demise of Munich's third division club Türkgücü.

Munich

– A restaurant of the same name borders on the training grounds of the “Turkish Force” in Perlach – yesterday it was the scene of a short, very sad works meeting.

Players, employees and staff of the bankrupt club arrived at 11 a.m. and a prepared press release was sent out at 11:34 a.m.

Insolvency administrator Max Liebig then had the thankless task of telling the staff what to do - by confirming the club's expected withdrawal from third division operations.

"We regret to have to inform you that Türkgücü München Fußball GmbH & Co. KGaA has to stop playing in the 3rd league," said the introductory text of the circular mail, which was followed by an explanation from the managing director.

"Further maintenance of the game operation would only have been possible by providing new capital from a third party," Max Kothny is quoted as saying: "The expected income from the game operation by the end of the season cannot by far cover the running costs.

Unfortunately, despite intensive efforts in the past few weeks, no new investor could be found.”

Türkgücü retreat: Saarbrücken is considering legal action

The high point deduction imposed on Türkgücü by the DFB (two plus nine points) made the search for a successor to Hasan Kivran even more difficult.

“The team has shown in the past few weeks that they have never given up.

This also impressed potential donors, who were ultimately deterred by the high risk of relegation as a result of the impending point deduction.” Whether and in which league Perlacher will compete in the 2022/23 season will be decided in the coming weeks.

It is already sealed that the third division table will be mixed up after the cancellation of the Türkgücü games.

The biggest beneficiary is TSV 1860, which only loses one point.

Promotion favorites like Kaiserslautern and Braunschweig lose three points, Saarbrücken six, which managing director David Fischer commented: "Ultimately we are the club that loses the most points in terms of points.

There's a certain amount of frustration there," says Fischer.

Apparently so much that the club is now considering legal action: "We will use all legal options to prevent this unsportsmanlike and unfair procedure of deducting points," it said.

Türkgücü dealt with the (expected) shock news relatively calmly.

The ten-minute meeting was hardly over when the majority of the pros didn't go home or even to drink to their frustration - but to the grass field next door, where coach Andreas Heraf offered anti-frustration training.

"Of course it's a sad moment," said the Viennese: "In truth, we kind of expected it, but when you finally get it said, that's another blow to the neck." His team had recently shown their best character .

The players heeded Heraf's recommendation "to put oneself on display for other clubs".

Pleasing side aspect on an otherwise black Thursday.
