The British neo-pro Ethan Vernon (Quick-Step) won in the sprint, this Friday, the 5th stage of the Tour of Catalonia now led by the Portuguese Joao Almeida (UAE).
Upon arrival in Vilanova i la Geltru, Vernon (21) settled the peloton ahead of the German Phil Bauhaus and the Frenchman Dorian Godon.
Almeida, who was tied on time with Nairo Quintana, dispossessed the Colombian of the leader's jersey, in favor of a bonus of one second pocketed during an intermediate sprint.
On Saturday, the 6th and penultimate stage remains on the Costa Daurada along a 167 kilometer route leading from Salou to Cambrils.
