The Open Karate Clubs and Sports Clubs Championship, which concluded its competitions at Al-Galaa Hall in Damascus, witnessed wide participation and strong competitions in the male and female categories in individual and kata combat.
Al-Arabi Club topped the general rankings for the under-18 category, winning 5 gold, 3 silver and one bronze, followed by the Central Army with 3 gold, a silver and two bronze, then Jaramana with two golds, and the same silver and bronze.
In the under-16 category, Al-Arabi also managed to get first place with 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze, followed by the Central Army with 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze, then Nassib Club with 1 gold and 4 silvers.
The Army won the first place for the under 14 years category after its players reached the podium more than once, and they won 4 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze, and Jaramana came second with 3 gold, 2 silver and bronze, then the governorate with 3 gold and a bronze.
Vice President of the Karate Federation, Abdel Razzaq Zaitoun, said in a statement to SANA, “This activity is the third in the federation’s annual agenda.
In turn, the head of the main referees committee in the Federation and the Asian referee, Nidal Dahnin, explained that the karate game in Syria has professional cadres in all disciplines, including the referees in terms of quantity and quality, pointing out that the arbitration in the tournament was of a good level and the tournament did not witness objections and all the players in their fights got the points that they deserve it.
A number of crowned players expressed their happiness at attaining advanced positions, hoping that their performance would qualify them to join the national team to represent Syria and raise its flag in the global podiums.
