The International Football Association decided that the confrontation of Senegal and the Netherlands will be the opening match of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to the official tournament schedule approved by FIFA.
It was expected that the opening match would be between Qatar and Ecuador, but according to the approved schedule, the confrontation of Senegal and the Netherlands in Group A will be the opening match.
The match will start at 1:00 pm local time on Monday, November 21, at Al-Thumama Stadium, with the Qatar-Ecuador match taking place at Al-Bayt Stadium at 7:00 pm local time, after the England-Iran match scheduled for 4:00 pm at the Khalifa International Stadium.
The first day of the World Cup will be completed at ten in the evening local time, with the United States facing the winner of the European play-off between Wales and Scotland or Ukraine.
