Tolisso drama at FC Bayern: "Devastated, done with the world"

Corentin Tolisso has been injured again.

Julian Nagelsmann, coach of FC Bayern Munich, explains the current situation.

Munich – FC Bayern Munich* is entering the final weeks of the season.

But one player will be missing: Corentin Tolisso.

He came on as a substitute against Freiburg on Saturday, but was out again just 20 minutes later.

He was even involved in the Munich exchange chaos.

Trainer Julian Nagelsmann initially assumed that he had stomach problems and therefore immediately rushed into the dressing room.

But the real reason was different.

One who explains the Frenchman's quick disappearance very simply: Tolisso had injured himself again and just wanted to get off the field, away from football, away from the cameras as quickly as possible.

"I actually thought he had stomach problems.

I didn't even notice it in the game and afterwards," Nagelsmann admitted at the press conference before the Champions League quarter-finals against Villarreal.

"I only found out in Munich that he had a torn fibre.

When it happened in the game, he was still playing five or six minutes.

Review: Since his arrival in 2017, Tolisso has had a very difficult time at Bayern.

Injuries kept throwing him off track.

A look at the medical record: Cruciate ligament rupture in 2018, ankle surgery in 2020, muscular problems in 2020, tendon rupture in 2021, calf problems in 2021, two corona infections in 2021. The midfielder returned in early 2022, was even a regular player at times and impressed with good performances.

Then the next shock: In the home game against Fürth, Tolisso lay down.

He pounded the floor angrily, shouting out his frustration, beside himself - because he knew he had hurt himself again.

Especially now that it's on.

Especially now that he had collected such good arguments for a new contract with FC Bayern or another top address.

Right now Tolisso was missing again.

He recovered quickly from the muscle fiber tear in February and played again in Freiburg at the beginning of April.

Before it clicked again and he hurriedly left the field.

Nagelsmann continues: "He has had a lot of muscle fiber tears in the last few months and years, a lot of lost days, expiring contract.

This is not an easy situation for a player.

I am very sorry for him.”

Tolisso didn't travel to Villarreal, but he left Munich anyway.

"He's in France now and trying to change his mind a little to gain new strength and courage," emphasizes Nagelsmann.

Tolisso comes from Lyon and has recently been linked with a move to his hometown club Olympique.

It is unclear whether the 27-year-old is currently involved with a new club.

Maybe he just wants to be away from football as much as possible - who can blame him after the numerous setbacks.
