Bolzano - Sad news from the winter sports world: Manuel Pescollderungg is dead. The former professional skier died on April 4th after a short, serious illness.
He was only 41 years old.
According to Italian media reports, Pescollderungg was only diagnosed a few weeks ago.
Now he has lost the fight.
The South Tyrolean was at home in slalom and competed in World Cup races from 2004 to 2007.
He didn't celebrate the big successes there, but he was an integral part of every winter.
As a result, Pescollderungg competed in the European Cup, where he finished in the top 10 several times.
In 2009 he won silver for Italy at the Universiade - the World University Games for students.

Pescollderungg came from Colfosco (Kolfuschg) in the Val Badia, between Bozen and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
He leaves behind his wife and two daughters - just one month and two and a half years old.
Until a few weeks ago he was still working as a ski instructor and ski instructor trainer in his home country.
Where he had also spent most of his life: on the mountain.
The disease was then diagnosed at the end of February.

Quiet, because he hated showing off his skills.”
Pescollderg showed on Instagram how much fun he had in his post-career career.
He repeatedly shared pictures of nature on his account.
He often swapped his skis for his mountain bike.
He also worked temporarily as a guide on two wheels.
One of his last messages more than a year ago was: "Living in paradise!" In addition, he put a jubilant picture of himself in the snow of the Dolomites.
