FC Bayern suffered a defeat in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

It could have been even worse.

• FC Bayern* and FC Villarreal faced each other in the duel for the Champions League* semi-final.

• The Spaniards deservedly won the quarter-final first leg 1-0.

- Extremely difficult away game for FC Bayern - FC Villarreal deservedly lead, Julian Nagelsmann's team is harmless offensively and too vulnerable defensively.

The 1-0 came after an exemplary attack by the Spaniards, Manuel Neuer almost conceded the second goal shortly before the break.

Everything has to change at Bayern in the second half.

Above all, the hosts close everything on the outside and are always there with two men against the fast outside of Munich.

Robert Lewandowski has no relation to the game at all.

To what extent the "yellow submarine" (nickname of the club) is actually a lucky ticket remains to be seen.

Because as Julian Nagelsmann already noted at the press conference (his statements to read): Villarreal has the most experienced team in the Spanish league with a total of almost 4000 La Liga appearances.

Last year, Unai Emery's team won the Europa League, this year they threw Juventus Turin* out of the Champions League in the round of 16.

At the same time, however, one thing is certain: FC Bayern is a big favourite, anything but reaching the semi-finals would be tantamount to a moderate earthquake.

The personnel situation could hardly be better before the quarter-final first leg: only Corentin Tolisso and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are missing.

Even the long-missing Alphonso Davies* is about to make a comeback, even the starting eleven is in there, as Nagelsmann confirmed.
