A week after he revealed that he had contracted prostate cancer and stunned the football world, Dutch coach Luis van Gaal told a media interview in his homeland that the difficult treatment he underwent was successful.
The 70-year-old former Manchester United and Barcelona coach revealed his diagnosis on a Dutch TV show earlier this month.
"I went through everything," Van Gaal told the Dutch news agency ANP.
"I went through 25 radiation treatments. Then I had to wait five or six months to see if it did its job and indeed the treatments helped."
