HBO's series "Lakers: A Winning Team" continues to infuriate NBA legends.
This time it's Jerry West, the man and the logo ("Mr. Clutch") who decided to go against the producers of the new series about the showtime dynasty of the 80's.
The series, recently released for a second season, features the rise of the Los Angeles Lakers in the late '70s and early' 80s, starring Erwin "Magic" Johnson and Karim Abdul-Jabbar and under his baton Of Jerry Bass, who is portrayed during the episodes as a neurotic, angry and insecure man.

West, who already with the airing order about a month and a half ago, asked for a general denial from the producers, went this morning (Wednesday) a step further, sending through his lawyers a letter with a demand for public apology with a threat of defamation, in case the producers do not respond.
"West is portrayed in the HBO series in a wrong and cruel way. He looks like an addict to the madness that got out of hand," the NBA Legend editors wrote about me. Lie, which caused great distress to Jerry and his family.
Former Lakers great Jerry West has demanded a retraction and an apology for what he called, "a baseless and malicious assault," on his character in the HBO series, "Winning Time."

It added: "Unlike the baseless show in the HBO series, Jerry had nothing but a great love for the Lakers organization, and in particular for owner Dr. Jerry Bass, in the era in which he formed one of the greatest teams in NBA history.
Jerry West was an integral part of the Lakers' success.
From "The Lakers: A Winning Team,"
"There's no doubt that the producers knowingly humiliated him because of the pursuit of ratings. That's why the producers owe Jerry a public apology and at the very least should back off from their baseless description and slander against him."
