Benfica recently visited Anfield in their Champions League quarter-final second leg.

They lost the first leg 3-1 to Liverpool (scorer for the Portuguese of course: Darwin Núñez).

And the Uruguayan netted again in the second leg, in the end it was 3:3.

Núñez even scored two more goals, but they didn't count for offside.

And yet it became clear what an incredible nose for goals this 22-year-old has.

It is not for nothing that he is associated with the really big clubs in Europe.

The Bavarian super striker is currently always associated with a change, apparently there is a hot flirt with FC Barcelona.

Of course, a departure would be difficult for Munich to cope with.

Mainly because you know that the search for a successor is likely to be expensive.

The name Erling Haaland keeps coming up, but it's pretty clear that his ideas about salary, earnest money and commissions for advisors and father cannot be borne.

Núñez would be a similar type of player at a similar young age, but probably a little cheaper as a whole.

A departure from Lisbon is almost guaranteed, after all Núñez is shooting the Portuguese league to pieces.

He scored again at the weekend, paving the way for his team to a 2-0 win with a 1-0 win over Sporting in the derby.

Ultimately, however, Benfica will probably only be enough for third place, the lead between Porto and Sporting is too big.

Núñez's 25 goals in 25 league games don't help either.

In view of such numbers, it is unlikely that he will remain with Benfica despite his contract running until 2025.

He thirsts for a bigger challenge.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported a price tag for Núñez a few days ago.

A buyer would have to put 75 to 80 million euros on the table for Benfica to become weak.

A new consultant should force a change in the summer.

And that's exactly where Bayern come into play.

Sky expert Marc Behrenbeck recently also named Núñez as an option for Munich.

But will it actually become concrete?

Such a hefty fee is likely to deter Bayern, especially as a possible sale of Lewandowski this summer means they might not be able to raise enough money to fully refinance the Núñez transfer.

The alternative would be: the Pole leaves Munich free of charge a year later, then Bayern would no longer earn anything from him.

Or: Lewandowski extended after all.

However, this third option does not seem to be the most likely at the moment.

CEO Oliver Kahn said: "It takes time to convince him."

The fact is: sooner or later FC Bayern will have to deal with a Lewandowski successor, the 33-year-old will not be able to play forever.

Should it be a solution with a young, up-and-coming striker, then money has to be invested.

There's no way around it.

Haaland is considered too expensive.

Only a few others in Europe are currently offering a similar spectacle - for example Dusan Vlahovic, who had already rejected Bayern and opted for Juventus Turin.
