Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish Federation, “outraged” by the theft of his conversations with Pique

Luis Rubiales plays the counter-attack.

The Spanish football boss denounced the "theft" of his data "after the revelation, on Monday, by El Confidential, of conversations between the president of the Spanish Federation and the Barcelona player Gerard Pique on the relocation of the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.

“I am really outraged by all the falsehoods that are being spread and very angry that the lies are being prioritized over the real problem, which is that information was illegally stolen from my phone,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday.

The conversations in question deal with the contracts for the organization of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Kosmos, the sporting events company chaired by Gerard Pique, is said to have received 24 million euros for the relocation of the competition to the Gulf.

Luis Rubiales justified that following a proposal from Kosmos to change the format of the event, several countries were approached (Qatar, United States, China) before Saudi Arabia was finally chosen.

“If there is any commission, Kosmos will have it with Saudi Arabia, so the Federation has not paid, does not pay and will not pay a single euro in commission to anyone for this operation” .

The president of the Federation even denounced "Mafia practices" and explained that he feared worse acts.

“I'm a simple person, different from the others: I've never drank beer, I don't smoke.

I can't guarantee that tomorrow they won't put a bag of cocaine in my trunk”.

The former player even insisted: "I don't think I will get to the point of ending up in a ditch with a bullet in the back of the neck, but they stole information on my cell phone".
