Violence in Israeli football has been gaining momentum recently and even today (Saturday) unpleasant scenes came outside the stadium in Netanya when before the game between Maccabi Netanya and Maccabi Haifa a mass brawl developed between the fan camps.
After a crowd of dozens of fans from both camps, police forces arrived at the scene and arrested a number of people involved as it was not yet clear how many of them had been taken to the police station.
Also, another very incident that angered the fans is the fact that an hour and a half before the opening whistle of the game the gates were not opened, which causes a dangerous urgency at the entrances to the stadium gates.
