“Amy Pieters' condition has evolved.
She is now conscious.
This means that she can communicate slightly, non-verbally.

"Doctors cannot yet say what residual sequelae and remaining abilities Amy Pieters will have as a result of the brain injury," the statement continued.
The 30-year-old cyclist lost consciousness in the crash and suffered severe brain damage.
First operated in emergency at the hospital in Alicante, she was transported on January 6 to a hospital in the Netherlands.
Since February, still in a coma, the cyclist began to follow a neurological rehabilitation program.
A specialist in the track, Amy Pieters was three times world champion in American racing with her compatriot Kirsten Wild.
She was also titled European road champion in 2019.
