Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund has signed Nico Schlotterbeck from league rival SC Freiburg.
The 22-year-old central defender has received a five-year contract with BVB until 2027. The Dortmund team announced this after the medical check-up on Monday.
After Niklas Süle (Bayern Munich), Schlotterbeck is the second national player to switch to the eight-time German champions in the summer.
»Nico Schlotterbeck is a young German international who has made great progress.
His profile fits BVB perfectly,” said sporting director Michael Zorc.
Neither club gave any information about the transfer terms.
Most recently, a sum of around 20 million euros was in the room.
"I want to create clarity for SC Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund and myself personally," said Schlotterbeck, adding: "It's important to me on the home straight of the season to focus fully on the remaining three games with SC Freiburg, which we will hopefully successfully contest being able to concentrate.
After that, I'm looking forward to the new tasks with BVB.«
