Former captain of the Israeli national team, and the first Israeli in the best league in the world, Omri Caspi - who retired from active play last year, launches the Sheva venture capital fund to invest in start-ups.
The fund was established together with David Citron, a veteran venture capitalist.
Basketball players who simultaneously invest in start-ups are a well-known model.
For example Kevin Durant and Steph Kerry who played alongside Caspi at Golden State, have made many investments in ventures in parallel with their basketball careers.
So too Caspi began to be exposed to activity and throughout his career he invested in a number of companies.
Sheva is a $ 50 million fund designed for early-stage investments, focusing the fund's activities on entrepreneurs established by Israelis in Israel or abroad, but it is also open to investing in foreign entrepreneurs in a variety of verticals.
According to Omri Caspi: "I entered the start-up industry because I like working with entrepreneurs on growth in the US, working on the side of business development and opening doors in business.
Excited to share my new career after basketball and the launch of our venture capital fund - Sheva.
Early stage venture firm, focused on Israel and Israelis around the world.
