UEFA has decided to hit hard on Russian football.
The European Confederation announced on Monday several measures against its selections and its clubs.
First of all, no Russian team will participate in the European Cups next season.
This sanction includes the Champions League, the Europa League, the Europa League Conference but also the Women's Champions League and the Youth League.
“No Russian club will participate in the 2022-2023 season of UEFA club competitions starting in July, namely the Champions League, the Europa League or the Europa League Conference”, wrote UEFA in a statement raising the list of measures taken against Russia following the invasion of Ukraine.
The Portuguese replace the Russians at the Euro
Russia, already excluded from the 2022 World Cup by Fifa, will not take part in the Nations League either.
“Sbornaïa” will automatically be ranked fourth and last in Group 2 of League B. “Consequently, writes UEFA in a press release, the Russians will be relegated at the end of the group stage.

In addition, the Russian women's selection is excluded from the next Euro (July 6-31) and will be replaced by Portugal, beaten in the play-offs by Russia.
It is also ousted from the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. Finally, the UEFA Executive Committee has declared ineligible the Russian candidacy for the organization of the men's Euro of the 2028 or 2032 edition.
