Formula 1 suffers from the consequences of inflation.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner warns of a horror scenario, the small teams are relaxed.
Monaco – Formula 1 is more exciting this season than it has been for a long time.
The introduction of a budget cap also played its part in this.
The world association FIA set a limit of 130 million euros in 2022, but the costs are increasing rapidly.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner is pushing for an increase in the upper limit, but the small teams could prevent that.
He speaks of dramatic consequences.

"The transport costs have risen by 60 percent in some cases, as have the material costs, and to an immense extent," explains Red Bull's consultant Helmut Marko.
"First the pandemic, then the war, these are events that were not foreseeable and these inflation and increase rates are not normal either." One is therefore already in talks about an "inflation adjustment."
Above all, the top teams Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes have to save money.
"None of the top three teams is currently within budget," reveals Marko.
Horner warns of a horror scenario if costs are to be compulsively reduced: "Then seven teams will probably have to skip the last four races just to meet the budget limit." Horner also speaks of "layoffs".
The FIA must solve the problem "at least by the second half of the year".

Small teams contradict Red Bull boss: "If we can do it, the others have to do it too"
Naturally, the small teams, some of which even operate below the budget limit, are against an increase.
"The teams that don't have much room for improvement can easily react to that.
They just have to shut down their wind tunnel and build fewer new parts,” believes Alfa Romeo boss Fred Vasseur.
"If we can do it, the others have to do it too," says Alpine boss Otmar Szafnauer.
He calls on the large teams to save on development costs.
The required unanimity seems unattainable for the big teams.

, Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Haas and Williams are against raising the budget cap.
“They are concerned with restricting the further development of the competition.
It's a strategic train of thought, because they also have higher costs,” analyzes Aston Martin's team boss Mike Krack.

Krack taunts that "some people don't have their costs under control." But he says apologetically: "The situation in Russia and Ukraine, which has massively increased energy and logistics prices, was simply not predictable."

Nevertheless, Krack Red Bull boss Horner contradicts.
“It is an exaggeration to assume that teams will have to miss races.
I don't think that will happen."
