The Los Angeles Lakers named Darwin Mum as their new coach over the weekend, ending a failed season that ended in only 11th place in the West and even without a ticket to the playoffs.
However, it looks like next season in City of Angels will also be based on LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook.
"The Lakers again insist it's better to keep Westbrook on the roster, despite doubts, than to give up more assets so someone can agree to take him in the trade," Stein wrote. The player for next season and he intends to realize it. "
Westbrook, 33, has averaged 18.5 points this season, picked up 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game, but has struggled to match his style of play to that of coach Frank Vogel, who has already been sacked.
As is well known, the Los Angeles Lakers also suffered many injuries, most notably from Anthony Davis who was absent for an extended period of time.
